Developing Understanding and Greater Depth in Secondary Mathematics
Fri 7 July 2017, 09:00 – 12:30 BST
How do students deepen their understanding in Secondary Mathematics?
How do they become reasonably good at reasoning?
Why is problem solving such a problem?
This session looks at some of the myths around teaching and learning through a mastery curriculum, with a greater emphasis and focus on deepening learning within the same concepts rather than accelerating children onto new learning content.
Teachers will be equipped to plan, teach and assess rich engaging maths lessons where greater depth and understanding is achieved.
This is a free to attend CPD opportunity open to Secondary Teachers of Mathematics, and Curriculum Leaders, working in schools in the Northumberland, Tyne, Wear and Durham.
Participants are expected to complete a short pre course questionnaire, and another reflection a month after the session.
Refreshments are provided, and there is plenty of free parking at the Village Hotel
Please Note: To ensure that funding is used effectviely, cancellations within 1 week of the course date, non-attendance or failure to return the evaluations, will be charged at £30 per person, invoiced to the school.
