This session is an opportunity for workforce leaders to review their vision and strategy for the workforce and teams they support, in line with the People Plan.

The aims of the session:

To enable you to shape the strategic narrative and vision for future working based on the People Plan.

  • To be clear on what we are aiming to achieve through our workforce strategies, the ‘why’, ‘what’ and ‘how’ we operate and engage with people to achieve our goals.
  • To create some strategic headlines and reconnect to a clear sense of purpose.
  • To provide you with some tools and techniques to engage with your teams through stories and co-create the priorities and how you will deliver them together.

It is for all senior workforce professionals who are involved in shaping the narrative and vision for the workforce strategy at a directorate or organisational level.

Pre- work - In preparation for the session, you’re asked to spend some time reviewing your current workforce strategy and vision and consider the current strengths and also opportunities to develop it further. It’s anticipated that you will be familiar with the key themes of the People Plan.


The session will be delivered by Sarah Montgomery and Nicola Boyle from Delve OD.

About Sarah

Sarah’s experience lies in working with organisations to deliver change, leadership development, organisational development and working with teams to create innovative ways of working across health and social care systems. Sarah has first-hand experience of working in senior HR/OD roles within the NHS and her strengths lie in working collaboratively with people to develop pragmatic and engaging solutions that make a real tangible difference at work.

About Nicola

Nicola has 20 years of experience working across both private and public sector businesses to design and lead on change projects, continuous improvement, team performance and talent. Nicola has worked with a range of NHS and local authority organisations to inject fresh thinking, driving positive behaviour change. Nicola’s strength is to bring strategy to life and ensure that people and team dynamics are aligned to where an organisation needs to be.

There are 25 places on this event. We want to ensure that all member organisations have access to our events. If an event is overbooked and the maximum attendance has been reached from a particular trust, the events team may need to cancel any further places that are booked. Zoom webinar – please ensure you have downloaded Zoom on to your computer in advance and can access Zoom webinars. We will send the joining instructions before the session. This can be done on most NHS computers/ laptops or personal devices.

As much of this session will involve participating in small break out groups, please only book on this session if you are reasonably confident that you can participate with the video on in break out groups.

CANCELLATION FEES OF £100 have been reinstated. Please let us know at least 5 days ahead if you need to cancel. . As you know, spaces on our events are limited, so if you can no longer participate in this event, please cancel your place at the earliest opportunity to allow someone from the waitlist to access the session if later than 5 days please send someone in your place
