Developing Your Deathwork Organisation: Values-led Branding & Communication
Overview
This follow-up workshop is for people running new deathwork CICs/non-profits because once your work becomes more visible — through funding, partnerships, referrals or public-facing platforms — questions about branding, audience and engagement often start to feel unavoidable. For deathwork, those questions can feel especially loaded.
This workshop offers a gentle, practical space to explore public presence as relationship rather than performance, using DEAD GOOD CIC as a live case study for reflection and learning.
Together, we’ll look at how to communicate your death work clearly and ethically, without simplifying grief, sanitising death, or slipping into extractive or hustle-led approaches.
This session aims to be an antidote to marketing 'masterclasses'. There will be no funnels, growth hacks or pressure to “show up everywhere”. Sorry, that's just not us!
Instead, we’ll focus on:
- Values-led branding that feels coherent, not performative
- Understanding the difference between audience, customers and community
- Making thoughtful choices about visibility and engagement
- Holding boundaries around emotional labour, grief-dumping and access
- Talking about money and small business sustainability without apology or pressure
The workshop is designed for solo practitioners and mirco teams, and is especially supportive of neurodivergent, chronically ill and caregiving participants who need low-demand ways of being visible.
You don’t need a finished brand, website or social media presence to join this session.
You just need to be at the point where your work is starting to meet the public — and you want that contact to be careful, ethical and sustainably paced.
This session follows on from our Setting Up Your Own CIC workshop, but stands alone as a space to slow down, reflect, and decide how you want your work to be encountered in the world.
