This course will be delivered online in two parts.
Part 1 will focus on the innovation process, how to translate an idea into a viable product or service. Topics covered will include:
- The innovation process, from idea to market
- Proof-of-concept
- Technology licensing
- Creating spin-out companies
- Funding support for innovators
Part 2 of the course will be delivered in partnership with Venner Shipley a leading firm of European Intellectual Property Attorneys and will focus on IP strategy development.
Intellectual Property (IP) often plays a pivotal role in successfully commercialising inventions, spinning-out companies based on new technologies and spreading innovative ideas.
This session provides an introduction to IP and illustrates how IP is used. It is aimed at clinicians, researchers and the wider MedTech businesses community. No prior knowledge of IP is needed.
Dr Pawel Piotrowicz and Dr Christopher Dunleavy will explain what you really need to know about IP, share their experiences of helping innovators effectively use their IP to achieve their aims, and present case studies in the areas of medical devices, software and drug repurposing.”
