Description

In December 2017, a government green paper - Transforming Children and Young People's Mental Health Provision was issued for consultation by the DfE and DoH. Its three main themes are:

  • Encouraging schools to identify a Designated Senior Leader for mental health, who will receive additional training

  • Creating Mental Health Support teams linked to groups of schools and colleges, to address the needs of young people who have mild to moderate mental health needs

  • Trailling shorter waiting times for accessing other mental health services

To set the context for the day, the course facilitators will explain the background to the green paper and how it is likely to be taken forward. This will include a link to the change in the SEND Code of Practice (2015) from BESD to SEMH, and to Changes to the teaching of Sex and Relationship Education and PSHE - a call for evidence - which closed on 12th February, 2018.

This will be followed by:

  • learning moreabout what is meant by mental health

  • why it is important to understand what neuroscientists are discovering

  • how to help children and young people with mental health needs engage with learning

The afternoon session will be interactive and participants will be asked to bring their own portable IT devices so they can explore online materials.

Our courses are £225 for members of NAHT and NAHT Edge, and £300 for non-members.

Do I need my membership number to book?

Yes. If you are booking a member place you will be required to enter the correct membership number. You can find your membership number by phoning membership on 0300 3030333 option 2.

Is my booking transferrable?

Bookings may only be transferred at the discretion of the Professional Development team. These will need to be made in writing to events@naht.org.uk before the event. Transfers and cancellations may be subject to a charge.

Cancellation fees:

Within 20 working days - 25% charge

Within 10 working days - 50% charge

Within 5 working days - 75% charge

Within 2 working days - 100% charge

Can I update my registration information?

Any updates to your booking must be made in writing to the Professional Development team at events@naht.org.uk

Does the name on the booking need to match the delegate?

The names of each individual delegate must be entered during the booking process along with a unique email address for each delegate as this will be used for the final confirmation.
