Registration 14:30 | Event 15:00 - 18:30

Arts & Business Scotland invites you to join us at our next Development Forum. The event will feature two Topics in Focus: General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Scottish Government’s A Culture Strategy for Scotland. This event also promotes Resourcing Scotland’s Heritage (RSH).

Scottish Government is developing A Culture Strategy for Scotland, proposing the principles of access, equity and excellence. In our first session, Leonie Bell, Head of Culture, Strategy and Kay Barclay, Principal Research Officer, Scottish Government will share the progress to date, enabling attendees to contribute to the consultation and feedback process. This will be a vital session for those who access cultural activity and those with an interest in developing our approach to culture, who are crucial to the development of the strategy.

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) will have a significant impact on how cultural organisations deal with personal data, particularly in the context of fundraising and marketing. Individuals will have more rights and businesses will have more obligations to ensure data privacy. Getting it wrong could result in significant fines of up £17million. In our second session, Laura Irvine, BTO Solicitors and Elizabeth McLean, Scott-Moncrieff will talk you through the significant changes required to ensure compliance by May 2018.

Tea/coffee provided. The talks are followed by an informal wine, soft drinks and networking session.
