Event description

Description

What is this event?

This is a workshop for parents of children with Developmental Language Disorder (DLD), previously known as Specific Language Impairment. We invite any parent of a child or adolescent affected by DLD to sign up and attend. The workshop is being run by University of Bath lecturers and researchers studying DLD (Dr Michelle St Clair and Vanessa Lloyd-Esenkaya) and by a leading Speech Language Therapist in the South West of England (Dr Yvonne Wren).

What will parents gain from the day?

  • Learn how Speech and Language Therapy can help
  • Find out how schools can provide support
  • Ask a solicitor questions about getting the right support
  • Learn about how to best raise awareness of DLD by discussing success with Autism
  • Stay in touch! Parents can sign up to hear news about new initiatives, research projects and similar events

This event is free.

Lunch and tea/coffee is provided.

Registration and tea/coffee at 9.30am for event to start at 10am.

How to get here?
We encourage all attendees to utilise public transport to reach the University, to reduce the carbon footprint of numerous people driving to the event. Paid parking is available at the University of Bath, but parking is limited.
Arriving on foot: The walk between Bath city centre and the University campus is approximately 1.8 miles up a hill. The hill is relatively steep (a good option for those used to hill walking!)
Arriving by bus: Jump on the U1 bus from town to the University.
Arriving by rail: The nearest station is Bath Spa. We will be at the train station at 9 am to help assist attendees in sharing taxis.
