KS4/5: Developments of GCSE Number at A level
Appropriate for teachers with no experience of teaching A level Mathematics, this course shows how a range of numeric topics from GCSE are developed at A level across all specifications. The day will include two model lessons, each followed by an analysis of the pedagogy, and subject knowledge sessions in which the mathematical concepts are explained and explored.
10.00-11.15 Arithmetic sequences: Using diagrams to find the sum of the numbers in any finite linear sequence.
11.30-12.30 Irrational numbers: Exploring properties of numbers which we can prove cannot be expressed as an exact fraction.
13.15-14.30 Proof: Noticing and proving a range of propositions related to positive integers.
14.45-15.45 Indices: Deepening understanding of the index notation
