About this event

Workshop overview.

Get excited and confident about devising, using mask, and exploring non-verbal theatre at one of Vamos Theatre’s creative, high-energy and inspiring days for teachers (KS3+), theatre makers and educators.

Through shared exploration, games and exercises that you can take straight back to the classroom, you’ll gain a thorough introduction to using full mask and non-verbal theatre with your students, exploring mask characterisation and mask physicality, plus specifics such as clocking, stillness and isolation. You’ll learn ways to devise and create non-verbal stories that have clarity and impact, helping to build your confidence in teaching devising and mask performance in your schemes of work.

Led by Vamos Theatre’s Creative Producer, Honor Hoskins.

“What an epic workshop full of expertise and enthusiasm. What a brilliant way of teaching teachers to be fabulous.” Beathan Copeland-Jordan, Drama Teacher King’s School, Gloucester.

Vamos Theatre is the UK's leading full mask theatre company, taking its funny and fearless brand of wordless theatre across the length and breadth of the country and beyond since 2006. Our trademark style marries full mask with strong visual design and an original soundtrack. We make accessible, humorous, human, and fearless work which is based on real life stories, and our productions are rooted strongly in social research. We tour a full scale mask production throughout the UK annually, as well as performing at national and international festivals and events. We share our skills in schools, with NHS staff, in care homes, with teachers, actors, carers, social workers, the d/Deaf community, business leaders and more. Our full mask characters entertain at festivals and celebrations, bringing fun and cheek to events nationwide, and our Youth Theatres learn the skills that will take them, and full mask theatre, into the future.

“One of the most innovative, exciting full mask companies currently touring.” Ian Barge, The Stage

"The magic of Rachael Savage's production is that it creates such a vivid world without voice and words." The Guardian
