Description

Ydych chi wedi meddwl erioed am redeg eich busnes eich hun? Mae 13 – 19 Tachwedd yn Wythnos Entrepreneuriaeth Fyd-Eang felly dewch i gael eich ysbrydoli gan ddau entrepreneur sy'n gwneud hynny'n union. Byddant yn dweud wrthych sut maent wedi cyrraedd i ble maent ac fe gewch gyfle i'w holi am eu taith. Y ddau entrepreneur ydi Becky Stark a Rhys Mwyn.

Mae Becky'n aelod graddedig o'r Institute of Export ac yn ieithydd medrus gyda brwdfrydedd mawr dros fasnach ryngwladol. Gyda Diploma graddedig mewn Ieithoedd Modern i Fusnes o’r ‘Institue of Linguistics for French’, dechreuoedd Becky ei gyrfa gan geisio uchafu ei sgiliau ieithoedd. Roedd ei swydd cyntaf hi fel cynorthwyydd allforio mewn swyddfa gwerthiant brysur. Aeth hi ymalen i weithio i gwmni plastigion rhyngwladol lle datblygodd hi brofiad mewn datblygu cynnyrch a thechnoleg tra’n defnyddio ei sgiliau ieithoedd i wneud gwaith cyfieithu a cysylltu efo’r swyddfeydd dramor. Ar ôl nifer o flynyddoedd mewn diwydiant, dechreuodd Becky weithio fel Rheolwr Allforio i gwmni'n cynhyrchu nwyddau i ddefnyddwyr. Symudodd Becky i Ogledd Cymru yn 2005 a phenderfynodd sefydlu ei busnes ei hun – Stark Export Focus. Yn 2007 daeth Becky yn Lifreïwr a dyfarnwyd Rhyddid Dinas Llundain iddi.

Rheolwr cerddoriaeth, cyhoeddwr a rheolwr label recordio yng ngogledd Cymru yw Rhys Mwyn. Dechreuodd ei musnes bron ar ddamwain - roedd wedi cael ei ysbrydoli gan reolwyr cerddoriaeth eraill fel Malcolm McLaren (Sex Pistols) ac Andrew Loog Oldham (Rolling Stones) i ddechrau rheoli grwpiau pop, ond gweithio gyda grwpiau Cymraeg oeddwn i am ei wneud yn bennaf. Cafodd waith yn rheoli Catatonia yn ystod y ddwy flynedd gyntaf, ac roedd hynny'n help mawr er mwyn i'r busnes allu ffynnu yn ystod y blynyddoedd dilynol. Erbyn hyn, mae ganddo 'bortffolio' o weithgareddau gan nad yw rhedeg label recordio yn talu'r biliau yn yr oes 'lawrlwytho am ddim' sydd ohoni, felly mae Rhys wedi ymryfalu i fod yn archeoloegydd, ysgrifennydd ac awdur. Mae’n gymwysiedig i fod yn arweinydd bathodyn glas i Gymru a’i arbenigedd yw Hanes a Diwylliant Cymru.

Have you ever thought about running your own business? 13 – 19 November is Global Entrepreneurship Week so come and be inspired by two entrepreneurs who are doing just that. They’ll tell you about how they’ve got to where they are and you’ll have the opportunity to ask them questions about their journey. The entrepreneurs are Becky Stark and Rhys Mwyn:

Becky is a graduate member of the Institute of Export and a qualified linguist with a passion for international trade. With a graduate Diploma in Foreign Languages for Business and a Distinction from the Institute of Linguists for French, Becky began her career seeking to maximise use of her language skills. Her first job was as an export assistant in a busy sales office. She went on to work for an international plastics company, gaining sales, new product development and technical experience, whilst still using her language skills for translation work and liaison with overseas offices. After a number of years in industry Becky began working as Export Manager for a company manufacturing consumer products. In 2005 Becky relocated to North Wales and decided to set up her own business – Stark Export Focus. In 2007 Becky became a Liveryman and was awarded the Freedom of the City of London.

Rhys Mwyn is a music manager, publisher and record label based in North Wales. He started hus business almost by accident - he’d been inspired by other music managers like Malcolm McLaren (Sex Pistols) and Andrew Loog Oldham (Rolling Stones) to get involved in managing pop groups, but his particular interest was in working with Welsh language acts. He managed Catatonia for the first two years, and that really helped him to keep the business thriving for the next few years. Now he has a ‘portfolio’ of activities, because running a record label in the age of free downloads doesn’t pay the bills so Rhys has diversified into becoming an archaeologist, writer and author. He is a qualified blue badge guide for Wales and his speciality is Welsh History and Culture.
