Event description

Description

Engaging people with change

Description

Change can be unsettling. When the aims and ambitions of the organisation around us begin to shift, we can be unsure of how we fit in. Strong leaders are required at such a time, providing us with support, direction and motivation.
Whether you are a new or experienced manager, this topic helps you understand and develop your role as a change leader. Being able to construct a compelling vision for change – and communicating this in a way which resonates with your team – will be a crucial factor in your success.

Learning activities

This topic features a 3.5 hour workshop on how to create an engaging – but flexible – narrative for change. Prior to the workshop, there is about an hour of preparatory work, combining videos and an online tutorial.
After the workshop, you will reconvene with your fellow participants as an Action Learning Set (ALS). The purpose of the ALS is to test the change management narratives you will each have developed back in your workplace.
This topic contains the use of some media, please refer to the technical specification on the 'Terms and Conditions' tab on the next page before you purchase.
The estimated learning time is 6 hours.

Learning outcomes

By completing this topic, you will:
- understand the factors which affect how we prepare for change
- know how to keep people motivated and engaged
- help the Civil Service to develop people who can lead effectively in times of change
