In this two and a half hour webinar, Frank Mullane and Sarah Dangar will take you through what is required to be a useful panel member and will draw on:

• Experience from quality assuring c.750 DHRs for the Home Office.

• Working with hundreds of families in DHRs.

• The 2016 Home Office Statutory Guidance (AAFDA contributed much of the changes in this guidance, including elements of the scope of DHRs and the model for how families should be treated).

The key learning objectives will include:

• Understanding panel responsibilities

• How best to work with families including the family meeting the panel

The session will include presentations from Frank and Sarah with time for Q & A.

Frank Mullane is a Home Office accredited Chair of DHRs and a ‘reader’ in which role he advises the Home Office quality assurance panel. AAFDA also sits on this panel. Sarah Dangar has been working in the sector for ten years and oversees all AAFDA casework. In 2019, Sarah presented a workshop in Oslo at the European Conference on Domestic Abuse on challenges in the reviewing of domestic abuse related suicide and unexplained deaths. She was recently awarded a Fellowship from the Winston Churchill Memorial Trust to examine non- homicide domestic abuse death reviews. She will be travelling to Australia and the USA. Frank and Sarah have quality assured c.750 DHRs for the Home Office.

Frank has been published many times in this area and travels internationally speaking about this subject and helps other jurisdictions to develop DHR methodologies.
