Why you must attend:
This event has been organised by Aberdeen Street Health Foundation for the Winson Green & church community. It has also been organised to mark national Diabetes Week 11/6/17 - 18/6/2017 and is supported by the charity Diabetes Uk.
Public Health England (2014) tells us that the Diabetes prevalence in the Soho Ward of Birmingham which includes Winson Green is 9.4%. This is above the Birmingham average of 8.1% and above the England average of 6.2%. Diabetes is also the leading cause of Chronic Kidney Disease.
So come along because this event is to help you:
- Understand what diabetes is & know your risk for diabetes
- Know if you can prevent diabetes & know the signs and symptoms of diabetes
- Know how to manage diabetes if you already have it

What can I bring into the event?
If you have diabetes and take medication that lowers your blood glucose, please bring your usual hypo treatment should you need to treat a hypo.
