About this event

Do you love being in the water and learning to swim? If so we have the perfect summer holiday challenge for you!

Come and take part in the East of England Children and Young People’s Diabetes Network Summer Swimathon 2021.

This will take place throughout the school summer holidays 2021 (16th July – 7th September) and will give you the opportunity to raise money to help improve care and services for children and young people with type 1 diabetes across the East of England at the same time as doing something that you love.

In order to take part you need to set yourself a swimming challenge that you can complete during the school summer holidays (16th July – 7th September) – this could be:

· learning to swim a width or length of your local pool

· swimming 100 lengths of your pool in one session or over a period of time

· swimming a mile in one go – or over a period of time

· seeing how many lengths you can do in one session

· trying open water swimming for the first time

· challenging yourself to swim in the sea on your holiday

· seeing how many lengths or how far you can swim in total over the course of the summer holidays

The challenge that you choose is completely up to you!

You can complete the challenge on your own, with your family or with friends – the aim is to get in the swimming pool and have as much fun as possible while keeping fit and raising money for a fabulous cause.

Once you’ve chosen your challenge let your friends and family know and ask them to sponsor you. We will send you lots of information and support on how to raise sponsorship once we have received your challenge entry.

All the money that you raise will go to improving services and care for children and young people with type 1 diabetes in the East of England.

All entrants will receive a fabulous medal on completion of their challenge to celebrate their achievements

There will be prizes involved with the challenge too.

We will be giving out prizes for:

1. The most unusual place you have managed to swim

2. The most ambitious challenge

3. The most lengths of the pool covered

4. The most distance covered

5. The most sponsorship raised

If you would like to enter all you need to do is complete this application form.

It costs £7.50 per person to enter.

Once you have signed up and paid the entry fee we will email you to help you to set up your online fundraising page.
