Diabetes Update
By the end of the session participants will have:
· Gained knowledge of the differences between type 1 and type 2 diabetes
· Gained a good understanding of the importance of glycaemic control
· Be aware of complications of poorly managed diabetes, and signs of hyperglycaemia and how to manage this.
· Gained the ability to identify potential causes, signs and symptoms of hypoglycaemia
· Improved knowledge of oral hypoglycaemic agents, injectable therapies and insulin therapy.
· Revision of injection technique, site rotation and lipohypertrophy.
· Gained knowledge on dietary management and its importance in managing blood glucose levels.
· Be aware of how and when to contact/refer to the diabetes service.
Please note:
- This session is only for staff working in Sutton Health and Care community teams.
- Pay-and-display parking is available opposite the Health Centre.
- Hot/cold beverages will not be provided during the session, so please bring your own.
