The aims of this course are:
• To develop delegate’s professional knowledge, understanding and competence in diagnosing oral cancer and other oral medical conditions.

• The Signs & Symptoms of Oral Cancer
• What to do if you suspect oral cancer

Anticipated learning outcomes:
The learner will:
• Be able to assess the oral cancer risk of a patient.
• Be able to reduce the oral cancer risk.
• Be able to examine a patient for oral cancer
• Know when to refer suspected lesions.

Speaker:
Mohammed Al-Gholmy BDS FDSRCS(ENG) BM MRCS(ED) FRCS(OMFS)
Mohammed is a Consultant Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon, who is a registered Specialist with the General Medical Council and the GDC. He is dually qualified in both Dentistry and Medicine and has dual Fellowships in Dental Surgery and Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. He qualified in 1994 and since then has dedicated and limited his practice to Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. Since completing his Fellowship in Dental Surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons in England in 1998, he has gone on to obtain his Medical Degree from Southampton University followed by his Board Intercollegiate Certification in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, granting him Consultancy in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery.Mohammed advanced his skills in dental implantology, facial deformity surgery and bone grafting while on a Fellowship to Bruges in Belgium. His training has taken him as far afield as Scotland, India and Belgium to finally settle in Portsmouth where his NHS Consultant practice includes all aspects of dentoalveolar surgery and oral medicine, facial deformity surgery, craniofacial trauma, oral & craniofacial implantology, salivary gland surgery and the management of skin cancer.
