About this event

Like the idea of fostering but not sure where to start?

Need more information on what's really involved? What will the children be like? How much support will you get, and what will you be paid?

With so many different fostering agencies around - some profit-making and some non-profits like us - we want to address all the questions you may have in an easy online info session where you can ask the experts.

Who is this event for?

If you're based in Kent, South London or Surrey, then read on to find out more.

This information evening gives you the chance to ask whatever you want - and hear it from people fostering right now.

  • Find out how Diagrama foster carers benefit from exceptional round-the-clock support, free professional training and excellent benefits

  • Learn about the vulnerable children in need of fostering, the different types of foster care they need and what type might suit you best

  • Understand what's really involved in the fostering assessment process and what training you'll receive to make sure you have the skills for the job

  • Discover the detailed process we go through to ensure children are well matched with their carers (and their carers' children too!) to offer a stable and secure home that works well for everyone involved

  • Meet our welcoming team and learn about the central role our carers play in the service, what it means to foster with a non-profit agency that puts the needs of children (and not profits) first and hear what our foster carers really think of Diagrama

Thousands of children in England are in desperate need of a safe and secure home right now. They all need a good role model they can look up to, someone who has their best interests at heart. This is your chance to become the role model they desperately need.

Take your first step towards transforming a child's life today:

1. Book your place on our free fostering information event. Register via Eventbrite or email fostering@diagrama.org.uk

2. Meet our friendly fostering team online, listen to the presentation and ask any questions you may have. Meetings take place on Teams and can last up to 2 hours. (We’ll send you out the link in advance of the meeting).

3. Feel confident you have honest, reliable and comprehensive information to understand whether fostering is the right pathway for you, from the people that count.

Diagrama is a not-for-profit fostering agency, ensuring all funds received are reinvested back into providing the best possible service for the vulnerable children and young people we support. We work with foster carers from all walks of life. Not sure if you can foster? We have more information on who can foster on our website here.

Becoming a foster carer is life-changing and we’ll ensure your fostering experience is as stress-free and as rewarding as possible.

Paul Jacobs GM, who served as an Infantryman with the 2nd Battalion The Rifles, was just 20 years old when he lost his sight in an explosion in Afghanistan which killed two of his friends. As well as losing his sight, he was left with a traumatic brain injury and heavy scarring to his body. Paul spent much of his young life in care and attributes his foster carer Marion for giving him the love, family, stability and home he needed to turn his life around. He is hoping that speaking out about the importance of good foster carers and how they positively influenced his life, will encourage more people to come forward to foster.

100 children enter the Care system every day in the UK and there is an urgent need for more foster carers and people to adopt. Paul hopes that his story will help raise awareness of the need for more carers and encourage new foster carers to step forward and change lives.
