Event description
Improve your reative instincts with this workshop on direct drawing from nature

About this Event

During this two-day workshop, participants will be led through a series of observational exercises that will assist the process of their creative work. Considerate observation allows a combination of responses to occur. These responses inform the artist and impact the work, making each art work produced an honest and unique expression.

Leading on from ‘seeing’, and drawing from inner responses participants will be guided through various drawing techniques, ranging from detailed to expressive.

Drawing directly from nature, (weather dependent), or drawing from a large studio nature inspired arrangement, (think beyond still life), participants will learn to drawn upon their inner responses, inspirations and fuse these with drawing methods.

Come and enjoy the company and support of a group setting, exploring

• Undisturbed observation.

• Drawing exercises.

• Creating a range of studies to inform a larger expressive drawing.

• Discovering or reigniting your creativity.

Come along and experience your own creative potential.

All necessary materials will be provided and light lunches and refreshments will be available. Please notify us at time of booking if you have any dietary requirements.

Diane Main studied art for seven years gaining a 1st Class BA (Hons) Degree in Drawing and Painting, and a Masters Degree in Fine Art, both from Glasgow School of Art.

Diane also taught at the GSA Summer School, and during the summer of 2019, was the tutor for the Landscape Painting Course at the GSA Campus in Forres.

In 2006, Diane chose to relocate to the Forres area to focus on raising her two young children. Striving to get back into teaching in 2009 Diane was one of 20 Scottish Artists to attend a year long course, The Arts Practice In Education Professional Development Award.

Diane continues to live and work in Forres, She enjoys sharing her rich resource of knowledge, and has developed a keen interest in the creative process itself, the backbone of creativity. Assisting individuals to find their own reliable creative methods, so that this enables them to actively participate with their own creative impetus.

Diane continues her own artistic practice, often drawing outdoors and developing these into larger more realised paintings in her studio.
