Dickens of a Christmas returns to OLNEY The small market town of Olney transforms itself back to the times of Dickens on Sunday, 4th December when the annual DICKENS of a CHRISTMAS festivities take place. On that day, many of the residents, retailers and market traders will be dressing in the style of times past to help make the day a memorable one for the thousands of visitors who drop in to savour the delightful atmosphere. With plenty of outdoor stalls, two markets, street entertainment and various other attractions (including Father Christmas who has promised to come along to his grotto for the children), there is sure to be something for everyone including the: DICKENS of a CRAFT FAYRE As part of the event, the local Lions Club will again be organising its popular Dickens Craft Fayre which will be held in our normal 2 venues" Carlton House Club and Olney Centre all located on Olney High street. This is our biggest charity fundraising event of the year and it enabled the club to distribute in excess of £14,000 to good causes in the Local, National and International communities we operate in. Around 50 Craftspeople from around the region will be in attendance with crafts including designer jewellery, gem trees, artwork, embroidery, stained glasswork, woodturning, knitwear and knitted toys, Christmas decorations & wreaths, cards, handmade soaps, Tiffany style mirrors, Christmas puds, chutneys, mustards, honey, candlework and much more being offered to customers looking for that really unusual and unique Christmas present at recession busting prices. The Fayre opens at 10:30 am with admission being only £1 per adult (accompanied children free). The fee gives access to both buildings throughout the entire day allowing ample opportunity to visit the various sites between the other activities which will be taking place in the town. Forget about searching for a parking space in town, make full use of the free bus service which will be running throughout the day, serving the Craft Fayre sites and the free car parks at Yardley Road Industrial Estate and Emberton Park " follow the signs which are located at the Town Entrances.
