Event description
Dido Through the Looking Glass is the sequel to Fern Meets Dido - The Musical performed by communities generally underrepresented in theatre

About this Event

Sing a Book CIC would like to thank everyone who supported the project and enable young people aged 7 -18 and older people over 55 to be part of this community theatre project.

We would like to invite you to the open dress rehearsal reception to give you the opportunity to witness how the cast has mastered and developed skills in the performing arts and worked together as a community.

Dido Through the Looking Glass is a musical that gives a brief look into the life of Dido Elizabeth Belle (one of Britain's first aristocrats of African heritage living in England during the 18th Century) and highlights some of the challenges she may have encountered as gentle lady of colour during the height of slave trade.

She is magically transported through her looking glass and meets other historical characters, of colour, that have also made significant contributions to British history. The encounter gives her sense of self-worth and a better understanding of who she is.

This show will be the cast's first opportunity to perform to a live audience.
