About this event

Didsbury SciBar is a bunch of people with a passing interest in science meeting since 2008 on the 3rd Monday of the month at The Albert Club, 39-41 Old Lansdowne Road, West Didsbury, Manchester, M20 2PA.

Originally conceived by the British Science Association, Didsbury SciBar has, since 2019, evolved and expanded and is now run by an established group of volunteers who have the clout to get top researchers to come and give an informal chat on what they do.

It's not a lecture; its a short talk between the speaker and the audience, then an interactive discussion usually follows until the questions are exhausted.

The speaker varies each month. Details can be found on our website - https://didsburyscibar.co.uk/manchester-free-science-events/

Entry is completely FREE and new members are always welcome.

You don’t have to have any prior knowledge of the subject; any level of questioning is welcomed – this is an opportunity to learn more about a topic that sparks your interest.

During COVID times, we adapted and successfully hosted over 40 events exclusively online. As a result, many of our events are now simultaneously broadcast online for the wider audience so, if you can't attend in person, register for the corresponding online event for the link to participate virtually.

Details for online events can be found here - https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/cc/didsbury-scibar-online-563219 - you need to register in advance so that we can provide you with the meeting link.

Recordings of previous online events can also be found on our YouTube channel.

Come along and banish those Monday blues, have a chat and drinks with over 50 attendees, gain a Tuesday morning hangover and, weather permitting, a bowl on the green at The Albert Club (which is more scientific than you might imagine).
