Event description

Description

Explore your Central Library after dark as we transform the building for a theatrical dining experience with a menu of poetry, history and live performance.

Inspired by the British Library’s sold-out exhibition Anglo-Saxon Kingdoms: Art, Word, War, Digesting History will reimagine the Anglo-Saxon tradition of feasting and storytelling, bringing to life the worlds of poetry created and performed by Rachel Bower, Kayo Chingonyi and Joe Kriss. In collaboration with The Foodhall Project, expect to devour your way through three courses of theatrical revelry, food and spoken word, until your bellies are full.

  • Doors & Bar open: 6.30pm

  • First Show: 7pm

  • Second Show: 8pm

All food served will be plant based

If you have any access requirements, please contact Ruby Baker in advance of the event - ruby@poetinthecity.co.uk

This event is part of Collections in Verse, a collaboration between Poet in the City, the British Library and Libraries Sheffield using poetry events and commissions to bring British Library exhibitions to life in five cities across the UK.

Poet in the City illuminates words, stories and verse. As national poetry producers and commissioners we take on major ideas, issues and people, produce classic and contemporary poetry performances. We use poetry to animate moments of cultural and social change, cut across siloes and create dramatic poetry experiences in major arts venues and unusual spaces.
