This event will launch the University of Manchester based State Violence Research Network, 'Performing Activism' working group and kick off the Learning Skills Programme (Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, University of London) and the Centre for Race, Education, and Decoloniality, Black History Interruptions week running from the 21st of October, 2019 to the 25th of October, 2019 - co-located between Central's london campus and Leeds Beckett's Leeds campuses when both Universities will aim to 'interrupt' the "racialised dualisms and violences of our colonial thinking" Dr Hunter.

Chaired by Karis Wakefield, Steven Kavuma of the Diversity School Initiative and Cici of the Youtube Unspoken #safeblackspaces series will consider the role of digital technology in present day race activism and discuss issues of longevity when using digital platforms for social action in the context of their own digitally aided activism.
