Event description

Description

Since the Church of England’s Digital Communications team was formed in October 2016, we’ve been very busy redesigning four websites, growing the Church’s social media presence and creating campaigns that bring the gospel to the digital sphere. While working on these projects, we kept hearing the same thing from churches across the country: we need help with social media and writing for the web.

In response, and in line with the Church of England’s Renewal and Reform strategy, we’ve developed a training course to equip local churches to create a compelling digital and social media presence.

This course is for parishes in Liverpool Diocese.

The course consists of two parts: · An Introduction to Social Media · Writing for the Web.

We’ve been told by those running church social media accounts, often volunteers, they need some training to know why their church needs to be on social media – and how. On this practical course, we’ll take you through the basics of Twitter, Facebook and Instagram and how you should be sharing content. We’ll also teach you the importance of analytics and paid promotions.

Learning to write for the web is crucial to making websites and social media content engaging and helpful for users. This course church-specific for those who may feel they need some help in producing exciting copy. The course talks about audience, tone and what a website should include.

Please note: attendees are required to bring their own laptops or tablets.
