Event description

Description

Join me on this photo fieldtrip at the iconic Falkirk Wheel.

This camera/photo skills walk is a walking workshop where you have the opportunity to develop your skills under my guidance to capture more interesting compositions. This workshop is ideal for those who have a DSLR / Mirrorless / Bridge camera and would like use it to it's full potential. Pitched towards beginners/novices I will be able to assist you with composition ideas and how to best capture different scenarios by looking at different camera techniques and how to use various functions/settings on your camera. In a small group (max 5 attendees) we meet outside the Falkirk Wheel Visitor Centre - meet at the turning circle/drop-off point beside the gated entrance into the Wheel basin. We will then explore various angles to capture images of the Wheel and other features of the site. This workshop will involve a walk around pathways that will have steady inclines/declines.

Meet outside the Falkirk Wheel Visitor Centre at the turning circle/drop-off point. We will start from the small gated entrance into the Wheel basin site - please aim to arrive 10 minutes prior to start-time. Please get in touch if you require any clarification of the meeting point location. Please note that parking is available at the Wheel for a small charge. Alternative free parking is available at Millennium Drive, but this involves a short walk to the visitor centre via a small footbridge over the canal.

Make sure your camera is fully charged and you have a memory card with plenty of space. If applicable, bring any lenses or accessories you wish to try out. Although not essential, I would recommend bringing a tripod if you have one. Also, you may also find a neutral density (ND) filter to be helpful for this workshop, but it is not essential. Dress appropriately for the weather conditions and wear sturdy footwear. There will be walking involved in this workshop on a variety of terrains, some of which may be soft/muddy. In cases of extremely poor weather, the course may have to be cancelled/rescheduled. Please contact me if you have any accessibility requirements so that I can plan to accommodate your needs. Under 16s wishing to attend the course should be accompanied by an adult (they do not need to purchase a ticket unless they wish to also participate).
