Description

Digital Cities Bristol 2018 Open Doors - Nology & Reach Robotics 6-8pm.

Nology and Reach Robotics

Digital Cities Bristol is a week-long programme of free, inspirational learning and networking opportunities aimed at developing the skills of both the current and next generation of content makers working in the creative industries. The Digital Cities project has run successfully in Bristol for five years, bringing industry partners together to boost their region’s digital and production skills and acting as a catalyst for exciting collaborations within the creative sector.

Open Doors is an opportunity to join small groups visiting successful creative & digital businesses across Bristol for a look behind the scenes.

Championing the tech revolution with Nology & Reach Robotics: learn the tech behind gaming and robotics & the wealth of opportunity tech skills can create.

Join Nology & Reach Robotics for an evening of pizza, beer and interactive robot play followed by an insightful Q&A about breaking into the tech industry from leading experts. Enjoy introductions from Nology & Reach Robotics before having the opportunity to interact and play with some of the UK’s most innovative robots, learning the tech behind them too. By 2025 the global skills gap for tech is expected to hit 1.3 million. Just in the UK, the shortage of technical skills left 40,000 jobs unfilled last year.

The evening will be exciting, inspiring and lots of fun - as the robots are primarily entertainers! Join the tech revolution with us and see how these skills are attainable, accessible and can be applied to a wealth of opportunity. Come and learn how you can join the creative world of coding - from entry level to experienced coders, hearing from speakers at the forefront of technical development.

Order of the evening 6-8pm:

1. Introductions

2. Interactive robotics session - battles, gaming and learning the tech

3. Q&A - understanding coding, breaking into the industry and how to begin/change your career

4. Pizza, beers, wine and networking

About Nology & Reach Robotics

Nology is a tech skills training company with bold ambitions to do three things: bust the myth that a career in tech is just for STEM graduates, increase the diversity of individuals with tech skills and reduce the tech skills gap within the UK. Our 12 week course equips individuals with these skills whilst also offering a job guarantee at the end of the placement. Having worked with clients such as Toyota, ASOS, Burberry, Sony and Bank of America and placing candidates in these companies – we are well equipped with our network to get candidates in exciting roles.

Reach Robotics is a UK tech-startup based in Bristol. For the past four years, Founding CEO Silas Adekunle, alongside co-founders John Rees and Chris Beck, has been developing MekaMon, the world’s first gaming robot. Founded in 2013, Reach Robotics aims to bring high-end robotics and augmented reality to mainstream gaming audiences and provide the tools for future robotics and STEM education. They have just launched MekaMon V2 - bringing next level robotics to living rooms across the world, as the first ever gaming robot evolves.
