Building relationships using social media

In a new era of communications schools are searching for ways to engage a tech-savvy generation of parents, share best practice and communicate with local communities and businesses.

This half day seminar offers a holistic introduction to essential communication and social media skills as part of your continuing professional development. This includes understanding the difference between popular social media websites, ways of sharing new thinking with your peers and engaging your local community of parents, businesses and other schools. Your workshop facilitator will provide relevant case studies and offer expert advice.

What you’ll learn:

  • Selecting the right social media website
  • Promoting your school and showcase best practice
  • Exploring how other schools are using social media
  • Creating new learning content for your students
  • Protecting and separating your online personal and professional profile
  • Reaching out to parents and the local community
  • Investigating creative uses of social media to engage different stakeholders

Who should attend:

This seminar is designed for head teachers and senior school management teams from both primary and secondary schools who have a responsibility for creating and managing their school’s digital identity.

Seminar host:
Dr. Abhay Adhikari

Abhay develops digital engagement strategies for the arts, culture and education sectors. He has worked on a range of global web based projects with private, public and voluntary sector organizations including BBC World Service Trust, British Council and Zubaan. He has hosted Social Media Surgeries in both the UK and India, and helped set up the ‘Thoughts Become Things’ enterprise for a cluster of schools in North Yorkshire.
