Digital Core Analysis and its Application to Reservoir Engineering: London

The course will start with a review of fundamental, so that the basic physical laws governing flow and transport - at the small scale - are properly understood. Then the latest developments in imaging and modelling technology will be reviewed. The emphasis will then be on the prediction of multi-phase flow - capillary pressure and relative permeability. Attendees will understand how to use these quantities for the design and interpretation of field-scale recovery and how to use numerical prediction as a complement to direct experimental measurements.
The course will not only introduce digital rock physics, but will educated participants in the deeper and richer appreciation of multi-phase flow properties and their impact on the field-scale recovery enabled by this technology.

Reservoir engineers and petrophysicists, and any other scientists and engineers interested in flow and transport processes in porous media.
This course will provide an in-depth description of digital core analysis with an emphasis on fundamentals and practical applications. The course will allow reservoir engineers and petrophysicists to make the best use of the latest imaging and modelling technology to complement traditional measurements, and to use the results intelligently to predict and interpret field-scale recovery.
