Event description
Prof. Maria Economou (U of Glasgow) addresses the challenges of engaging diverse audiences for cultural heritage organisations.

About this Event

Digital cultural heritage interpretation had expanded over the last few years in an effort to attract diverse audiences and engage them more deeply. However, this remains challenging and raises a number of issues that the talk will address, such as the role of emotional engagement and digital storytelling when balancing facts and fiction, and the challenges of integrating co-creative participatory approaches in cultural heritage organisations.

This talk will draw from a range of related research (from the RSE Scottish Network for Evaluating Cultural Heritage Resources, H2020 EMOTIVE and POEM on Participatory Memory Practices, and AHRC/EPSRC Immersive Experiences Scottish Heritage Partnership.

Maria Economou is Professor of Digital Cultural Heritage, a joint post at the University of Glasgow shared between Information Studies, School of Humanities and the Hunterian Museum, where she leads the Digital Strategy.
