Description

”We don’t create services to make money, we make money to create services”

Mark Zuckerberg, Chairman & CEO, Facebook

Whether shifting operations online, digitising products, smarter engagement with customers or talent or equipping the workforce with new tools, the most recent McKinsey & Cap Gemini research shows that the best digital intent of most organisations soon hits its biggest barrier.

Whilst you can get so far in copying the digital means, it’s the organisational mindset & culture that really defines what it is to ‘be’ digital. Being digital will always trump doing digital.

A digital culture starts with its leaders believing & behaving differently: challenging the order of things and prioritising purpose & pace over profit & process.

Ironically, it’s a very human centric culture: it obsesses over customer needs & outcomes and liberates people to do the ‘right thing’, try new ideas & learn fast and continually strive to be better. It’s trusting but highly accountable.

If culture is derailing digital intent but is the essence of being digital, it’s time for leaders to shift their energy to digital culture change.

The Day.....
