Overview

Now is the time to start planning for how this will impact your business, and how to make Digital eATA Carnets work for you.

The new age of ATA Carnets is just around the corner, with the UK, EU and Switzerland going LIVE for Digital eATA Carnets in April 2026! Now is the time to start planning for how this will impact your business, and how to make Digital eATA Carnets work for you.

ATA Carnets have been paper for over 40 years with very little changes to how they’re processed. Customs and Border Force must physically stamp the Carnet to prove the goods have left and come back into the country. With the world becoming more digitised every day, it makes sense that we are finally moving towards a paperless system.

The wheels have already been set in motion with several UK and overseas ports, trailing the new system. The pilot has been running since early 2024 and is now heading towards the transition phase in April 2026 when the first countries will start accepting Digital Carnets as legal tender.

There are lots of benefits to Digital Carnets. Reduced environmental impact, streamlined administration, and crucially, a Digital Carnet cannot get lost! Many Carnets are lost or damaged in transit causing the holder headaches along the way. It also means that the chances of the Carnet being stamped in the wrong place, or not at all, are significantly reduced. Each Carnet is tracked using an app either on a mobile phone, tablet or a desktop.

Now is the time to trial and prepare for that Go Live date. So, how do you find out more and start to trial this in your own business?

Business West are experts in the field of issuing Carnets for their customers and at the forefront of the Digital Carnet revolution, so join Megan Childs, Assistant Manager – Business West, International Trade Services, on this informative and FREE online live Webinar on 4th December – 11-12pm.
