Event description

Description

Join us at Digital Catapult as we launch two OECD reports focused on innovation policy responses. The event will allow for in-depth conversation of effective policy options and experiments across OECD countries, including the use of R&D intensity as a policy target.

Digital technologies and artificial intelligence (AI) have pervasive effects on innovation and beyond. But are the innovation policies inherited from the past still relevant to foster innovation and inclusive growth in the digital age? In what ways should they be adapted? How can policy enhance the role and the impact of public research on the innovation ecosystem?

This event seeks to answer to these and many other questions supported by two new reports of the OECD Working Party on Innovation and Technology Policy (TIP):

  • Seizing the opportunities for digital innovation: options for innovation policy.

  • Exchanging knowledge between industry and science: new evidence and overview of policy options.

Launched at the event, these reports provide new insights on recent trends and dynamics regarding the impact of digital transformation on innovation, and science industry knowledge exchange.

The reports and event will explore what are the implications for innovation policy; and provide specific recommendations. This event will be an opportunity to discuss key those key findings and recommendations, as well as identifying the emerging policy questions with policy practitioners and experts.

The event will also provide for discussions of new TIP work on R&D intensity and effective co-creation for inclusive and sustainable growth.

This workshop is organised jointly by Digital Catapult, Innovate UK and the OECD Working Party on Innovation and Technology Policy (TIP).
