What is it?

Digital Skills 4 Girls is a monthly workshop for girls and non-binary young people aged 10 - 17 who want to learn new digital skills or develop existing skills. From coding and gaming to digital design and video, DS4G is a friendly and supportive environment to learn new skills and meet new friends.

What will I learn?

In this workshop, you'll learn how games are made - from coming up with an idea, to designing it, and finally building it in Scratch. We'll start by looking at an example, then you'll design your own story and build a hidden object game from scratch (pun intended!). At the end, you'll get to play each other’s games and see what hidden surprises everyone came up with.

Host bio:

This session will be led by Cat Burton, a games industry expert with over 17 years of experience.

Cat has worked on games played by millions of people across mobile, console, and PC. She now runs her own company, Goth Boss Studios, where she helps creative teams bring their game ideas to life. Cat is passionate about inspiring girls to get involved in games and tech.

No prior tech experience is required – just bring your imagination!

All materials and laptops provided. Parents are invited to view the girls’ final creations at the end of the session.

This session runs at the same time as Prewired, a coding club for under 19s.
