Get confident with computers and smart devices by attending digital workshops. Talk with our employment advisors to help you get job ready.

About this event

Whether you’re looking for a new job, want to start your own business or want to know how to keep yourself and your family safe online, digital skills are the key to your success. You can use technology to safely stay in touch with others and feel less isolated. You could also improve your job chances in a much tougher market. Run as part of Waltham Forest Council's Digital Skills & Employment Project, you will have to opportunity to take part in workshops and speak with our employment advisors. You will learn how digital is changing the world of work and the opportunities this could bring for you. We want to show you how you can learn the skills and gain the confidence needed in the increasingly digital workplace.

YouTube for hobbies - Learn how to navigate YouTube whilst doing x craft activity with an expert lecturer.

E-safety - Wondering how to stay safe online, or keep your children safe? Attend this taster to learn how to keep your family safe online.

How to use a tablet - Work with one of our Digital Mentors on tablet basics

Improving your interview skills - If you have a interview coming up or are just looking for some practice, work with a member of our employment team on interview tips and practice.

Starting a new business - Want to start a new business? Learn the fundamental tools you will need.

Who we are and what we do?

Employment, Business and Skills (EBS) offers training through courses, workshops and projects to individuals, employers and businesses. In order to deliver this training, we collect and process personal information about you.

Information we hold about you

The information collected includes name, address, date of birth, national insurance number, residency and employment status. We also collect survey data, quotes, case studies and research data.

Purpose of processing personal data and how we use it

The training provided by EBS is mainly externally funded. Funders include the Department for Education (DfE) who is the data controller for personal data processed by the GLA (Greater London Authority and ESFA (Education and Skills Funding Agency). Your personal information is used by the DfE to exercise its functions and to meet its statutory responsibilities, including under the Apprenticeships, Skills, Children and Learning Act 2009 and to create and maintain a unique learner number (ULN) and a personal learning record (PLR).

We are the data controller under Data Protection law (Data Protection Act 2018) in respect of training provided by other funders as we collect and process personal information about individuals in order to provide services and meet our legal obligations. In order to obtain the funding, the Council uses the personal data provide to complete mandatory individual learner returns which are sent to the funder via secure systems.

Other funders include ESF (European social Fund), DWP (Department for Work and Pensions).

Data such as quotes, case studies, research and surveys is also collected and used internally for marketing purposes.
