Description
Acclaimed citizen journalist Eliot Higgins (a.k.a. Brown Moses) investigates news from global trouble spots where other journalists fear to tread - but all via the Internet from his house in Leicester. His sleuthing of weapons usage and terrorism in Syria and Ukraine has led to questions in parliament, coverage in the Guardian and New York Times, as well as acclaim from Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch.
Eliot will be talking about his new project Bellingcat.com which has just raised £50,000 on Kickstarter to unite citizen journalists, providing them with open source information, collaboration and training to report issues that are being ignored.
Meetings are free and informal.
If you are aware of other locations we can all gather at and can help book them, please contact me. for the initial launch period we will mainly be at LCB in Leicester and at Incubate Leicester.
If you want to speak about your project one evening, please get in touch!
