By Medway Council

Overview

Join Electric Medway to explore how digital tools can transform heritage interpretation and engage new audiences.

New to using digital tools in heritage? Looking to understand what works for other organisations? Unsure what is achievable on your budget? This session is for you!

About the workshop
This interactive workshop delivered by Electric Medway introduces emerging technologies like VR and AR, and shows how mobile technologies such as QR codes, AR overlays and apps can create high-impact experiences.

Find out about community-led digital archives, how to use social media for storytelling and volunteer recruitment, and identify potential local partners to support your digital journey.

Packed with practical advice, this session is a mixture of hands-on experiences, case studies, presentation, discussion and Q&A. The session is ideal for community groups, heritage professionals and anyone running small-scale heritage projects. No experience or prior knowledge is neccessary!

About the Medway Heritage Place programme

In November 2023, The National Lottery Heritage Fund named Medway as one of 9 places who will benefit from £200 million of investment as part of their 'Heritage Places' initiative. The initiative responds to local need and opportunity, supporting places to use heritage to build pride in place, inspire local communities and power regeneration. Find out more about the Medway Heritage Place programme here.

The Medway Heritage Place programme is made possible with The National Lottery Heritage Fund. Thanks to National Lottery players, we are able to bring Medway’s stories to life in new ways for new audiences.

Other sessions
We are running a series of free skills development workshops throughout 2025 and 2026. More workshops will be announed throughout the year. Explore the full programme of Medway Heritage Place skills development sessions here.

The workshops have been developed based on topics suggested by Medway’s heritage community. If you have an idea for a workshop, please email us at heritageplace@medway.gov.uk.
