This knowledge exchange workshop and sandpit aims to discuss opportunities and barriers to adoption of AI-based solutions in Manufacturing (and beyond) and its social and economic implications. Participants from industry and academia will be involved in interactive activities to mutually learn and reflect on the following topics:

• State of the art and current solutions for AI-driven manufacturing
• Routes to lower adoption barriers
• Human-centric AI
• Industry and academia collaboration to co-create solutions and innovate

Morning

The morning workshop will include a panel Q&A session, open discussion using real world use cases and networking activities exploring enablers and barriers to adoption of AI in industrial contexts.

This workshop will be the first of a series of events to create a multidisciplinary discussion forum to support manufacturing companies to innovate and increase competitiveness through adoption of AI in manufacturing.

The workshop will form part of Dr Cinzia Giannetti's EPSRC-UKRI Innovation Fellowship focusing on the next generation of “smart” factories, which use advanced digital technology to improve efficiency - as featured in The Times Raconteur.

Afternoon

The afternoon sandpit will broaden the scope to all contexts in the EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT) in Enhancing Human Interactions and Collaborations with data and Intelligent Systems and discuses challenges and projects that the students from the CDT can reflect on, and develop.

This sandpit will be the first in a series of events with varied focus to discuss and develop projects and ideas for the CDT. The next session is on 11th Dec 2019.

Am y Digwyddiad hwn

Bwriad y gweithdy cyfnewid gwybodaeth a’r sesiwn dyrchu yma yw trafod cyfleoedd a rhwystrau i fabwysiadu atebion seiliedig ar Ddeallusrwydd Artiffisial (AI) ym maes Gweithgynhyrchu (a’r tu hwnt) a goblygiadau cymdeithasol ac economaidd hynny. Bydd cyfranogwyr o fyd diwydiant ac academia yn cymryd rhan mewn gweithgareddau rhyngweithiol er mwyn dysgu oddi wrth ei gilydd a myfyrio ar y pynciau canlynol:

Y gweithdy hwn fydd y cyntaf mewn cyfres o ddigwyddiadau i greu fforwm drafod amlddisgyblaeth a fydd yn cefnogi cwmnïau gweithgynhyrchu i arloesi a dod yn fwy cystadleuol trwy fabwysiadu AI ym myd gweithgynhyrchu.

Bydd y gweithdy’n rhan o Gymrodoriaeth Arloesedd EPSRC-UKRI Dr Cinzia Giannetti, sy’n canolbwyntio ar y genhedlaeth nesaf o ffatrïoedd “clyfar”, fydd yn defnyddio technoleg ddigidol lefel uwch i wella effeithlonrwydd – fel y gwelwyd yn The Times Raconteur.

Bydd sesiwn dyrchu’r prynhawn yn ehangu’r cwmpas i holl gyd-destunau Canolfan Hyfforddiant Doethurol (CDT) EPSRC ym maes Gwella Rhyngweithio a Chydweithio Dynol â data a Systemau Deallus, a bydd yn trafod heriau a phrosiectau y gall myfyrwyr o’r CDT fyfyrio arnynt, a’u datblygu.

Y sesiwn dyrchu hon fydd y gyntaf mewn cyfres o ddigwyddiadau gyda ffocws amrywiol i drafod a datblygu prosiectau a syniadau ar gyfer y CDT. Cynhelir y sesiwn nesaf ar 11 Rhagfyr 2019.
