Tech Nation 2017 Report – A Reason to Celebrate?

The 2016 Tech Nation report undeniably put South Wales and the Swansea and Cardiff clusters on the digital growth map, but it fell short of demonstrating the wider landscape which is enabling Welsh business to develop and flourish.

Now the third annual report is imminent.

How do we think the emerging Welsh tech scene will be presented this year, and will South Wales continue to drive growth?

There are certainly some things that just can’t be ignored:

  • There is a growing sense of excitement around Wales’ promising digital capability. Digital tech businesses are driving growth at the heart of the Welsh economy, and playing an increasingly important role in shaping the employment and productivity markets.
  • Equally the expanding number of digital technology working spaces and clusters are driving change through invaluable training, partnership brokerage, funding opportunity, and business introduction.

This burgeoning tech scene is one which we feel should be celebrated.

Join us at Tramshed Tech on 4th April to share in just how far we’ve come, and to talk about the heights we plan to scale in this coming year. We have an exciting line up of speakers. First up to the podium will be MB Christie, COO of Tech Nation with her insight into the report as a whole.

Folowed by Innovation Point’s David Warrender who will give an outline on the highs and lows of the 2017 Tech Nation Report and offer his view on many opportunities emerging for us in the future.

Chris Ganje will offer his insight into why the increasingly successful Amplyfi business chose to remain in Wales and what future he sees for his company here.

DashHound founders, Helena Ford and Kirsty Williams, will talk about there experiences of working in Silicon Valley and why they’ve returned to Wales to build their exciting new startup.

Adroddiad Tech Nation 2017 – Rheswm i Ddathlu?

Yn ddiamod, rhoddodd Adroddiad Tech Nation 2016 De Cymru ar y map twf digidol, ond ni wnaeth arddangos y tirlun ehangach sy’n galluogi busnesau o Gymru i ddatblygu a ffynnu.

Bellach, mae’r trydydd adroddiad blynyddol ar fin cael ei gyhoeddi.

Ym mha ffordd bydd y sector technoleg yng Nghymru’n cael ei bortreadu eleni, a bydd De Cymru yn parhau i yrru'r twf?

Yn sicr, mae yna rai pethau nad oes modd eu hanwybyddu:

  • Mae yna synnwyr cynyddol o gyffro mewn perthynas â gallu digidol addawol Cymru. Mae cwmnïau technoleg busnes yn gyrru’r twf sydd wrth wraidd economi Cymru, gan chwarae rôl gynyddol bwysig o ran ffurfio’r marchnadoedd cyflogaeth a chynhyrchiant.
  • Yn debyg, mae’r nifer cynyddol o leoedd gwaith a chlystyrau technoleg digidol yn gyrru’r newidiadau trwy hyfforddiant amhrisiadwy, broceriaeth partneriaethau, cyfleodd ariannu a chyflwyno busnesau.

Yn ein barn ni, dylem ddathlu’r sector technoleg eginol hwn.

Ymunwch â ni yn nigwyddiad Tramshed Tech ar 4 Ebrill i gydnabod pa mor bell rydym wedi dod, ac i drafod yr hyn y bwriadwn ei gyflawni yn ystod y flwyddyn i ddod.

Bydd David Warrender o Innovation Point yn rhoi amlinelliad o lwyddiannau a methiannau Adroddiad Tech Nation 2017 ac yn lleisio’i farn ar y cyfleoedd niferus a fydd yn codi yn y dyfodol.

Bydd Chris Ganje yn cynnig mewnwelediad i’r rhesymau pam y penderfynodd y cwmni hynod lwyddiannus, Amplyfi, aros yng Nghymru, yn ogystal â’i weledigaeth am ddyfodol ei gwmni.

A mi fydd sylfaenwyr DashHound, Helena Ford and Kirsty Williams, yn siarad am eu profiad o weithio yn Silicon Valley a pam mae nhw wedi penderfynnu i ddychwelyd i Gymru i adeuladu eu busnes cychwynnol cyffroes.
