Event description

Description

Digital twins: A realistic digital representation of something physical. What distinguishes a digital twin from any other digital model is its connection to the physical twin.

Organised by GroupBC and sponsored by PCSG.

The benefits of twins are easy to see – they offer a way of optimising the operation and maintenance of physical assets, systems and processes. By analysing the virtual model, lessons can be learned and opportunities exploited in the real physical twin.

However, as with many technological advances there can be challenges with implementation and operation. So how do we ensure that digital twins provide a solid foundation for the future of digital estates and avoid the troubles that all too often mean one step forwards, one step back?

This panel debate will look at the challenges such how we measure, name conformity and how we ensure information is interrogated in a meaningful way to ensure clients are getting the best from their asset. It will also look at the fact that even twins grow old and what needs to be done to ensure that digital assets are properly maintained, updated and managed as use of an estate evolves over time.

The panel will include:

  • Martin Townsend - chairperson (ex EA/BRE) & now independent sustainability consultant - Martin is passionate about sustainable business, in particular in the construction and water industries, having worked previously with BRE as Director of Sustainability, for the Environment Agency, as well as being lead official on Construction policy at Defra.

  • Alex Lubbock- head of digital construction, Infrastructure Project Authority – Alex’s role has encompassed supporting Central Government department adoption of Building Information Modelling to make this business as usual and now leads on areas of Manufacturing, Digital and Technology more broadly across Central Government.

  • Adrian Burgess - Technical Director, PCSG - Adrian leads the Building Information Modelling and Digital Strategies Information management services at PCSG. With a proven track record of delivering multimillion £ ICT projects and 14 years of industry experience, extracting the value of data that companies have is at the heart of his work that has led to the research and development surrounding GeoConnect+.

  • Steve Crompton - Chief Product Officer, GroupBC - With nearly twenty years of experience in construction information management, Stephen is driven by ensuring open, linkable data is at the heart of BIM.

Please join us for breakfast from 08:00am for 08:30am start to finish by 09:30am for those attending Digital Construction Week 2019.

Please note that attendance is strictly limited so please register your interest now and GroupBC will be in contact to confirm your place and final details.
