Event description

Description

There are now one billion active users of Facebook, 400 million active users of Google and 240 million active users on LinkedIn, and this number is ever increasing. Social media posts by employees can have far-reaching consequences and can even be used for fraud. Are you and your business prepared?

Wilkin Chapman solicitors and SJG digital invite you to attend this Free Breakfast Seminar, looking at ‘How to protect your business in the social media sphere' and 'Cyber security' from our guest speaker Stuart Green.

Social Media in the Workplace

When used properly, social media can be a powerful marketing and communication tool. However, managing employees’ use of social media inside and outside of the workplace can be a tricky balancing act.

Wilkin Chapman Partner and Head of Employment Teresa Thomas will cover the following during the seminar:

- How to effectively use social media in the workplace

- How to manage employees' use of social media

- How to address potential disciplinary issues if things go wrong

Teresa will go through some recent case law decisions and explain, in layman's terms, the reasoning behind them, so that you have the confidence and knowledge to take formal action, should it be necessary. Teresa will also explain how to tailor your procedures and training to protect your business and, as such, reduce the potential for social media abuse.

Making tax digital and Cloud accounting

Forrester Boyd's Alan Nesbitt will speak on the importance of not burying your head in the sand when it comes to tax turning digital, and the uncertainties around the change. Come along to this event to find out everything you need to know about the digital upgrade.

Anyone who remembers George Osborne's trumpeting of the end of the annual tax return may find it ironic that this "tax simplification" initiative could leave some individuals making six returns/submissions a year. Alan will provide an update on the current position and its likely impact on individuals, landlords and businesses, along with guidance on what you need to be doing to avoid falling foul of the new rules.

More importantly, he will also demonstrate how businesses and landlords can use Cloud accounting solutions to fulfil their tax obligations and improve their business performance and quality of life. All of this will be presented in a practical, clear, jargon-free manner.

Cyber security

Guest speaker, Stuart is the driving force behind SJG Digital, one of the most active cyber-security specialists in the UK, helping organisations throughout the country develop their defences against cyber attack.
