October's DigitalSurrey event will give you an insightful introduction to Web 3.0, the Semantic Web. Semantic Web technologies enable people to create data stores on the Web, build vocabularies, and write rules for handling data. You use the semantic web every day; you just don't know it yet.
The DigitalSurrey event will be on Thursday 2nd October 2014 at the YMCA Guildford riverside suite. Please feel free to arrive anytime from 6.30pm for drinks and networking before the speaker kicks off at 7pm. Save your seat now!
The semantic web (Web 3.0) has begun, and we're still adjusting to the changes wrought by Web 2.0, the social web. Our expert speaker, Jarred McGinnis will present a gentle introduction to the semantic web and explain what it is, what the impact on business will be and how you can take advantage of it.
Jarred McGinnis is a consultant in Semantic Technologies and visiting Research Fellow at King’s College London. Previously he was the Head of Research, Semantic Technologies, at the Press Association, investigating the role of technologies such as in the news industry. Dr. McGinnis received his PhD in Informatics from the University of Edinburgh in 2006.
This month's event is sponsored by Ancilia:
Ancilia is the new concept in mobile phone covers. Designed using technology developed in France, Ancilia phone covers for iPhones protect you and your phone, cutting up to 99% of radiation.
There is mounting scientific evidence to prove the harmful effects of radiation from mobile phones. Research and development of this revolutionary phone cover took place in France between the French Government’s National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS), the University of Nantes (both world-renowned research institutions), Polytech’ Network (a group of 11 graduate engineering schools within France's leading science universities), and the UK-based consumer technology company Dephasium.
The Ancilia range took five years to develop, at a cost of over £2 million. Not only does the cover protect against radiation, it also improves comfort (no more ‘hot ear’) and sound quality, looks very stylish and is finished in the best quality leathers. Due to launch in the UK later this year, Ancilia mobile phone covers are currently in production for iPhone 5 and 5s models, while the iPhone 6 version will be available from January 2015. Looking forward to seeing you there!
