Event description

Description

This is a 2 hour workshop delivered by Birthrights, the charity devoted to human rights in maternity care.

This is open to all who are interested, including doctors, midwives, students, antenatal teachers, doulas, members of maternity voices partnerships etc.

The workshop will be led by Birthrights and will offer an introduction to human rights principles and why they matter in childbirth. It will also examine maternity practices that violate human rights and consider what a human rights centred maternity service looks like.

Dr. Attila Jonas, Consultant Anaesthetist, will be a special guest. He has studied hypnobirthing, doula care and birth trauma resolution and is passionate about integrating all we know about the normal non-medicalised birth into his obstetric anaesthetic care.

With thanks to The University of the West of England for providing the venue and to The Baring Foundation for enabling ticket prices to be kept to a minimum. Please get in touch with Birthrights if you would like to attend but ticket cost is a barrier.
