Event description

Description

We're the local Newcastle group of the Dignity in Dying campaign. We believe that everyone has the right to a good death and campaign to change the law so that terminally ill, mentally competent adults can have the option of an assited death in their final months. For more information on the national campaign visit www.dignityindying.org.uk

We're holding our meeting and would like to extend a warm invite to all supporters and friends in the area to join us for a fun and informative evening. The meeting will take place in the upstairs meeting room at Scalini restaurant.

Lloyd Riley, Policy & Research Manager for Dignity in Dying will talk to the group about the latest research from the campaign - The True Cost: How the UK outsources death to Dignitas. The moving piece of research highlights the problems with the status quo in the UK. It is based on interviews with 19 people who either travelled abroad for a loved one's assisted death, or who expressed a wish to travel but were unable to do so, or those whose loved ones experienced a bad death in this country.

The group members will also give an update on current activities and there will be a chance to discuss future plans. For any questions please contact did.newcastle@gmail.com
