Dinner with Be World Class - On... World Class Teamwork
Thursday, 6 November 2014 from 18:00 to 22:00 (GMT)
On… World Class Teamwork, with Brendan Hall and Simon Hartley
What are the secrets of world class team work? How do the very best teams in the world operate? How do you galvanise a team together in a very short space of time, and enable them to deliver exceptional performance consistently?
The Clipper Round The World yacht race presents a unique challenge. How can you take a group of amateur sailors, who have never met each other, and create a team capable of winning a round-the-world yacht race? How does the skipper develop the skills and the teamwork necessary to deliver a winning performance?
What can we learn about teamwork from a victorious Clipper Round The World yacht crew?
Whilst we enjoy a delicious three course dinner skipper, Brendan Hall, and sport psychology consultant, Simon Hartley, will explore world class team working. They will share their insights and experiences of working with and studying exceptional teams. Brendan will explain how he created a winning crew. Simon will share his experiences with championship winning teams in sport, as well as his studies of world class teams such as The Red Arrows, SAS and Formula One pit crews. We will discover what differentiates the truly great teams, what sets them apart and how to develop world class teamwork. We’ll also address the challenges that you face, with your teams in business today.
This exclusive event is limited to 24 places, and provides a fascinating opportunity to meet and converse with senior leaders from both business and sport over cocktails and fine wines.
At the age of 28, Brendan skippered the winning boat in the 09-10 Clipper Round the World Yacht Race. The Clipper race is one of the toughest in the sailing world, encountering the most treacherous conditions and most dangerous seas. The added challenge for the skipper, is that they’re leading a team of amateur sailors that have never crewed together before. Brendan wrote, Team Spirit, as a narrative of the challenge. Brendan still sails professionally, skippering yachts across the world's oceans.
