About this event

You will be working towards an Early Years Workforce (Early Years Educator) Level 3 qualification.

Course duration - 1 year

Y ou will be required to:

  • A ttend monthly taught sessions - delivered online
  • A ttend regular one-to-one sessions with your tutor
  • S ubmit one assignment per month
  • Complete 16 hours per week voluntary or paid in a childcare setting to enable you to embed your knowledge into a real-life working environment to gain the knowledge and skills to work within the childcare sector.
  • Have access to a computer/laptop to attend virtual sessions.
  • Complete a short maths and English skills assessment as part of the application process and meet the minimum standard as set by the college.


COURSE CONTENT

You will gain knowledge and experience working in a real childcare setting. You will develop an understanding of the following topics:

  • Health and Well being of babies and children
  • Legislation, frameworks, and professional practice
  • Gain an excellent understanding of play, development and the assessment of children.
  • Support of healthy lifestyles for children.
  • Support of physical care routines for children.
  • Key working.
  • Observation methods- planning and promoting development in the Early Years.
  • Team working.
  • Play, development and learning for school readiness.



HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?

You will receive monthly taught sessions with an allocated programme tutor who will support you through your qualification. You will need to be working or volunteering for at least 3 days per week (16 hours) as an important part of the assessment process involves evaluating skills in real working situations.

Upon achievement of this qualification you will gain your licence to practise and it is intended that upon successful completion, you will be able to enter the workforce as Early Years Educators. You can progress into various job roles in the statutory, voluntary or private sectors such as:


- Assistant in Children's Centres

- Practitioner in nursery schools

- Practitioner in reception classes in primary schools

- Pre-school worker

Funded Courses for Jobs Level 3 must be a qualification from the approved list. Applicants must be:

1. Aged 19 or over

a nd

2. A resident in the UK or EEA for the past three years


They are fully funded for anyone who meets the following criteria:

1. Does not already hold a full level 3

  1. Is in employment earning less than £20,319.00

o r

3. Is unemployed
