Overview
Direct Payments provide choice and control, but can come with risks – both perceived and real. How do we manage these risks?
The Reinvigorating Direct Payments event series is a partnership between Think Local Act Personal and the Department of Health and Social Care.
Direct Payments provide choice and control, but can come with risks – both perceived and real. In this webinar, we’ll be exploring the ways we can balance risk while supporting people to live their life their way.
You will:
- Hear from a Direct Payment recipient from the National Co-production Advisory Group about why practitioners’ approaches to balancing risk and empowerment are important to them and how they can affect a person’s life
- Hear perspectives of safeguarding leads working to support frontline practitioners
- Learn about how risks arising from the personalisation of care and support manifest in people's lives
- Explore the impact of risk management on the care and support that people receive – particularly in the context of Direct Payments, employing and managing Personal Assistants and contracting with self-employed workers
- Have the opportunity to ask questions to a panel of Direct Payment recipients, safeguarding leads, and representatives from the Department of Health and Social Care
This event is aimed at:
- Social care practitioners undertaking assessments and creating care and support plans
- People who use Direct Payments
- Social care staff involved in providing support to Direct Payment recipients
