Description

The Director of Rugby course has been created to develop and support a generation of dynamic and inspirational leaders for the game. The role of Director of Rugby is vital to the development of the game, including coaching standards, player development and welfare.

The course will develop your leadership and management skills, as well as covering topical themes; all set firmly in an applied rugby context. The course will be delivered over an initial two days, with the potential for a third depending on the rate of learning during days 1 & 2 and is FREE OF CHARGE.

This course is only available to those who are in a DOR (or similar) role within a rugby club in Scotland.

Application Deadline = 31st August 2017


PLEASE NOTE - Places are limited for this course. Therefore all applications will be reviewed on an individual basis before being offered a place.


Course Programme:

Day 1 – Sunday 12th November 2017, 10:00am - 4:00pm

  • Role of the Director of Rugby in Scotland and benchmarking
  • What is Success - on-field and off-field areas (e.g. style of play)
  • Role of support staff (coaches, medics, S&C, team manager, analyst etc.)

Day 2 – Sunday 28th January 2018, 10:00am - 4:00pm

  • Effective coaching - recruitment, retention and development
  • Coach and player succession planning
  • Reviewing performance of coaches and the management team
  • Problem solving - dealing with the day-to-day issues
