Disability Confident Customer Service training course

Aims
The workshop builds on staff’s current knowledge and experience and provides customer facing staff with the confidence, techniques, tools, skills and increased awareness to ensure a best practice approach when serving disabled customers including those with non-visible disabilities.
Objectives
At the end of the event participants will have:
 explored what is meant by ‘disability’ and the role of the law;
 understood how to identify when they are serving a disabled customer including those with a non-visible disability and what they might need to do differently;
 the confidence to initiate conversations with disabled customers about any specific requirements they might have;
 understood the barriers faced by disabled customers and how to identify and address them;
 understood best practice on disability language, etiquette and communication;
 understood why disability confidence is important to the business;
 be able to obtain further advice and guidance.
Methodology
The training workshop will:
 be 3 hours in length;
 be highly participative;
 give practical advice and tools;
 be flexible in approach;
 use a range of techniques including self reflection, quizzes and case studies;
 be supported by an Helpline and further reading.
