Disability in the workplace - are you being unreasonable?
About this event
The Equality Act 2010 protects disabled employees against discrimination, harassment and victimisation at work. Disability discrimination law is complex and it is important that employers ensure they fully understand their duties and obligations owed to disabled employees.
Employers are subject to a duty to protect their workforce from discrimination and take steps to prevent disability discrimination at work. This includes recognising the benefits of having an inclusive and diverse workforce that does not exclude disabled people.
Jackie Cuneen and Philip Bain from our Employment Law team will be providing guidance and advice on the responsibilities employers have to prevent disability discrimination occurring. The seminar will cover the following topics:-
- What is a disability under the Equality Act 2010
- Direct and indirect discrimination - how disability discrimination can happen in the workplace
- Reasonable adjustments and other steps employers can take to provide a more inclusive workplace
- Effective methods for preventing harassment and victimisation
- How employers should handle a disability complaint
- Positive progress - putting the right policies and working practices in place
The presentation will run from 9.30am -10.15am followed by an online Q&A session for anyone wishing to ask questions.
