In this masterclass, we focus on anxiety caused by disabilities with Gavin Neate, creator of award-winning disability technology 'WelcoMe'.
About this event
The theme of Mental Health Awareness week this year was Loneliness, something we all feel from time to time throughout our lives. The feeling of not being seen or heard is something that people with disabilities are faced with everyday, as navigating even the simplest of tasks can feel isolating, daunting and stressful.
This is not a small issue, of the 14m people in the UK who have a reported disability, 70% of conditions are unseen, creating an invisible barrier to support and recognition.
At MomentCo we want to bring awareness to the anxiety caused by disabilities and are delighted to welcome Gavin Neate, the Founder of Neatebox, to share his inclusion mission and what drove him to create award winning disability technology 'WelcoMe'.
“As a Mobility Instructor with Guide Dogs UK, Gavin became increasingly aware of the transformative nature of technology to the lives of disabled people. His company, Neatebox, provides solutions which are grounded in an understanding of the very real challenges faced by disabled people. His strongly held belief is that social good solutions can and must scale and become commercially successful in order to prove its possible to do well whilst doing good.
Gavin’s solution “WelcoMe”, was the 2021 winner of the United Nations, World Summit Awards for Inclusion & Empowerment of Disabled People.
